City looks for participants & leaders

Situated on the Central Oregon Coast, Dunes City is located amongst  trees and sparkling lakes. Siltcoos and Woahink lakes provide a myriad of recreational activities as well as numerous private shoreline and vista properties for the quiet community of 1,330 residents. Visitors fortunate enough to discover this area located six miles south of Florence, Oregon are treated to such amenities as fishing, boating, water sports, bird watching and mushroom hunting. Canoe and kayak enthusiasts will uncover natural secrets along the recently developed Siltcoos River Canoe Trail. A few minutes' drive will lead to ocean beaches, sand dunes, nature trails, camping areas and prime locations for crabbing and clamming. Dunes City residents care for their town and its people.  This volunteer committee run town promotes education for its citizens, stewardship of the lakes, responsible planning,  maintaining its  roads and unparalleled scenic beauty. The unusual formation of Dunes City in 1963 came about when 629 residents decided to stand up against a Federal mandate.
