Caution

Please be aware that the natural food needed by our native animal population has been delayed by an odd weather cycle.  Berries are six weeks late.  Many acres of these animals' home have been clearcut.  Many local animals are hungry and are coming close to our houses.  One of many incidents occurred recently in the Darlings Loop / Ka-Teech Drive / Clear Lake & 101 area.   Nearby, local habitat / forest are no longer.  It is best to understand how poor planning can affect us all and support agencies whose job it is to prevent future problems.  Prevention is the key.  You could help.  Beware of changes in your area and let the folks at Dunes City know about them.  You may be able to help in a volunteer capacity so that problems like this don't repeat for others.  If you have a problem let us know.

Feeding wild animals makes both their life and ours worse.

  • They empty our trash cans - keep them sealed

  • Leaving small animals alone outside is ill advised

Cougar tracks were seen in December '08 near Woodland Lane

Went missing between 10 AM and 4 PM Sunday, August 11, 2008

Ernie is cautious around strangers and other animals, and he dislikes loud noises.

With people he knows, he is gregarious, and sociable but

he doesn't like to be picked up or carried unless it is his choice. He is microchipped

Please call City Hall if you have pictures or sightings of aggressive animals or any other neighborhood concern.

Thank you.
