New Ordinances map the actions required to improve Dunes City and keep the lakes clean. Better water tests monitor the quality of the water in our major water bodies. The Festivals and Potluck bring the community together and informed toward working together. A more forward thinking City Council plans for the long term. Committees are working hard to encourage more participation. Citizen meetings open the door to builders so that they too can take advantage of knowledge the community has collected. Fines, set an example that the old ways are no longer acceptable. Dunes City will actually stay ahead of the curve and not have to spend the exorbitant sums Minnesota is being forced to spend because they failed to take these steps earlier. Active participation with ODOT, DEQ, Honeyman State Park, Lane County and other agencies is proving quite beneficial. Newsletters, press coverage and mailings help inform the community to what is happening. An upgrading to the staff at the City Hall which, long term, will assist in our achieving more cooperation from all factions in our community. A County and State Government that is headed toward a strong TMDL program that will bring awareness to water quality issues and everyone's part in a solution. This website is helping to sensitize the public of the need for their participation. Review what was written in 1991. You make it happen by taking part in our 'all volunteer' committee and council commitment, to a Dunes City for all who call it home.
